Wardle Academy is a converter academy school for young people aged from 11-16 years. The academy replaced Wardle High School in September 2013. The school has grown in size in recent years with a strong academic record and a good reputation within the local community. Currently there are approximately 1200 students on roll, and we have been oversubscribed in recent years. The school is located in a semi-rural setting on the north eastern edge of Rochdale. It serves the Pennine communities of Wardle, Littleborough and Smithy Bridge, although an increasing number of students now travel from Calderdale. Visit the Wardle Academy school website here.

and pupils are very positive. Pupils respect the school environment.”
“The work that the school does to prepare its pupils for progression after Year 11 is strong. Effective careers education, information, advice and guidance are a high priority.”
Our prestigious music groups have had both national and international recognition. Wardle Academy offers free music lessons on a wide range of different instruments with tuition from dedicated staff across a range of professional backgrounds.
With the chance to play in venues across England, Europe and beyond, our music enrichment programmes are extremely popular, with over 250 students learning to play a music instrument.
Wardle Academy believes in the power of strong partnerships and has good relationships with our partner primary schools, other secondary schools and stakeholders, including the local authority.
The school has been recognised with several recent awards including The Leading parent partnership award (2015), the CEIAG Gold award for its careers guidance and information (2015), and recognition as an investor in people.
