Kentmere Academy’s Anti-Bullying Ambassadors are noted in the Diana Award Roll of Honour

Kentmere Academy has a strict and effective no bullying policy. We pride ourselves on our happy, caring school where our young people can grow and learn in a safe and secure environment. This is why we have been added to the prestigious Diana Award Roll of Honour.

The Diana Award was set up in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, and her belief that young people have the power to change the world. The charity, which runs anti-bullying and mentoring programmes, is unique as it also rewards young people who carry out inspiring work without expectation of reward. Each year, thousands of young people are nominated by individuals and their communities to highlight these selfless acts. Those awarded will have demonstrated, in the most exceptional way, qualities of kindness, compassion and service.

An anti-bullying ambassador is someone who works to try to tackle bullying in their school/work/community.

Brilliantly, all the hard work at Kentmere Academy was evident to see and we have been awarded the prestigious Diana Award. This year is a particularly poignant year as it marks 20 years since Princess Diana died. The Diana Award is the longest running award for young people that is given to individuals and groups through a retrospective nomination process only.  This is special because young people do not work towards our award, rather they demonstrate their suitability through their actions, without expectation of reward. This shows that Kentmere Academy’s Anti-Bullying actions are successful, regardless of the target of an award.

The school intends to continue its outstanding work with anti-bullying and will be using the resources and training made available through this national recognition. The anti-bullying practices of Kentmere Academy will also be passed on to other schools within the Wardle Multi-Academy Trust so that every one of our academies will not only be a bully-free school, but also an exemplary example of anti-bullying practice in education.
